James is an experienced business development advisor through IP licensing and collaborative R&D, with a demonstrated history of working in the renewable energy and environment industries. He is skilled in Negotiation, IP Licensing, Research and Development (R&D), Renewable Energy and Engineering.
James has been involved in business development since 1984 starting in the petroleum industry before moving to the engineering domain. He negotiated his first license agreement back in 1988 on an IT application for Oil and Gas exploration.
James has worked for Hydro-Québec, an electric utility, from 2000 to 2020. He was recruited as international business advisor for the generation group and in 2006, he joined Hydro-Quebec research institute as business advisor initially for the search for industrial partners for distribution and robotics R&D projects before focusing on energy storage and battery materials projects.
James was responsible for all commercial activities related to R&D activities including industrial and institutional partner relations and IP licensing, and managing the battery materials IP portfolio of Hydro-Quebec.
James holds a B.Sc.A in geological engineering and a M.Sc. in Physics from Université Laval, Québec. He is a Certified Licensing Professional and has volunteered on the CLP Exam Development and Maintenance committee since 2008.
