Alexander P. Ducruet, Ph.D., CLP is Executive Director, Licensing & Innovation Commercialization, for the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) Innovation Institute, where he is responsible for intellectual property protection and commercialization for Pitt innovations. The Innovation Institute is the hub for innovation and entrepreneurship at Pitt and provides a comprehensive suite of services for Pitt Innovators, from protecting intellectual property to commercialization through licensing and new enterprise development. Prior to the formation of the Innovation Institute, Alex led licensing activities for Pitt’s Office of Technology Management, which he joined in 2005.
Before transitioning to a career in technology transfer, he pursued post-doctoral research at Pitt focused on molecular mechanisms of natural product anticancer agents. Alex received his B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Pittsburgh. He is a Certified Licensing Professional and a member of AUTM.
