Taylor, PhD, MBA, CLP, is Assistant Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences Translation, and Executive Director of sciVelo at the University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) where he activates, funds, develops, and connects university-based life sciences technologies to their impact through translation. Dr. Taylor is a Director on the CLP Board of Governors and began his first term in January 2021.

Ben Dibling, Ph.D., CLP, is Deputy Managing Director for the Penn Center for Innovation (PCI) at the University of Pennsylvania. He leads a team responsible for working in partnership with Penn faculty, staff and students to advance scientific breakthroughs and technological advances resulting from Penn research activities towards new products, services and/or businesses that provide benefits back to Penn, its innovators and society. Dr. Dibling is Chair of the CLP Board of Governors.


CLP Announces New Additions to the Board

Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc. (CLP) announced new Governors and officers for the 2021 Board of Governors (Board). The Board is responsible for the administration of the CLP professional certification program, designed to establish credibility and provide greater visibility to the licensing profession.


Seventeen Professionals Earn CLP Credential During Fall Testing Window

Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc. (CLP) announced that 17 professionals who work in licensing, technology transfer and intellectual property management passed the Certified Licensing Professional exam and earned the credential during the 2020 fall testing window. Earning the CLP designation establishes credibility, demonstrates knowledge, and helps individuals practicing in the diverse field of licensing and technology transfer reach their personal and professional goals.

Hugh Spotswood supports certain franchises within Merck’s life science business (“MilliporeSigma” in North America) with the in- and out-licensing of tangible property and intellectual property rights. He works as part of project teams to negotiate and paper license agreements that enable the onboarding of new products, services and technologies or monetize IP and materials developed by Merck KGaA’s R&D teams. Hugh earned the CLP credential in July 2020.

Pooja Bhatia, MBA, CLP, RTTP, is Chief Manager, Innovation-Technology Transfer Office (i-TTO) of the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) in New Delhi, India. Ms. Bhatia heads the i-TTO, a regional tech transfer office set up at FITT with support from National Biopharma Mission, a joint project of Government of India and World Bank, with the mandate to cater to academia, startups and incubation centres.

Pamela L. Cox, CLP, is Partner and Chair, IP Transactions Practice Group with Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP. Ms. Cox acts as a pathfinder, enabling clients to execute business strategies through intellectual property transactions. She is talented at unraveling complex deal structures and devising creative agreement solutions. Ms. Cox earned the CLP credential in 2008 and served on the CLP Board of Governors from 2014-2019 and as President and Chair in 2018.

Melissa Mail, PhD, is Commercial Theme Leader at the University of Sydney where she oversees the University’s intellectual property assets and commercialization opportunities and provides specialist advice to complex issues in the areas of research commercialization, intellectual property and commercial negotiation. Dr. Mail initially earned the CLP credential in 2019 and is a member of the CLP Exam Development and Maintenance Committee, which is responsible for ongoing exam development efforts.​
